7.1雅思大作文解析:图书馆能否被网络替代

一些人认为*应该投资每一个村镇的公共图书馆，而其他人认为这是一种浪费，因为我们可以在网上获得信息。

这是一道双边类大作文，双边类大作文需要对两方观点都进行讨论，可以选择中立（都反对 or 都支持）或是支持单边。这道题目是围绕着*投资建立图书馆来讨论的。审题时候要注意，甲方观点中 “each twon” 是个过于肯定的表达，乙方观点则是把图书馆的作用限制在了获取信息上，因此两边都有不合理处，可以都反对。

首先图书馆的价值有四方面：收藏与整理、信息传递、文化传承以及娱乐休闲功能。

前两个功能大家应该很好理解。图书馆本身会收藏大量的书本，除了大家可能常见的各行业书籍外，还包括许多典籍比如当地的县志。而人们可以通过借阅书本来获取知识，其中有些书本未必会有电子版在网上流传，借阅相比购*既节省购置费用也节省了家里放书的空间。（而且，搬过家的同学一定能明白一箱箱书真的很重……）

在文化传承上，一方面就如刚刚所说，图书馆本身就会收藏许多当地的典籍和历史记录，起到系统爱护当地文化的作用。另一方面现在许多图书馆也会举办各类文化活动，来吸引人们参加，起到文化传播的作用。

对于当地人来说，图书馆也是一个很好的休闲娱乐、亲子活动或者学习的场所。对于有孩子的家庭来说，大人可以带着小孩子图书馆一起过亲子时间，或是陪小孩子一起看书，或是让小孩子自己看儿童读物，大人可以在旁边做自己的事情。对于学生来说，可以在那自习或借阅专业文献。老人则可以在图书馆看书读报，消磨时间（这里要注意，很多老人是不会上网的，更别说在网上搜索获取信息）。并且，因为图书馆具有安静的环境和学习氛围，所以很多人相比在家中，觉得在图书馆更能让人集中精力，也更愿意到图书馆学习或者工作。

因此，我们可以看到，乙方观点中，人们虽然能够从互联网上获取信息，但不足以论证图书馆就是一种浪费，因为这无法替代图书馆所具备的的环境，或是文化传承、娱乐休闲的功能。

但是，在甲方观点中，从*投资角度来说，不考虑实际需求而在每个城镇都建立图书馆确实也不合理。*投资往往需要考虑实用性和紧迫性，就比如在文化程度低的地区建立图书馆的意义并不大，因为多数人没法自主的完成阅读。如果想要提升当地文化水平，建立学校、开设扫盲班是个更有效的方式。

A growing number of people are becoming aware of the conveniences of technological advances, especially with the advent of computers. There are some people who argue that investing public library is no longer necessary due to the free access to abundant information online, while others believe that public libraries in every town should be subsidized by the state.

There are obvious logical loopholes in both views. First of all, it is unrealistic and unnecessary to invest public libraries in every village. This is so because some towns are still relatively underprivileged and backward,by which I mean the government should give priority to subsidize and formulate policies to facilitate local people to solve bread-and-butter issues and construct major infrastructures, such as roads systems,hospitals and schools, so as to directly enhance people's living standards.Besides, what we have to admit is that the general education level of habitants in villages and towns, for example in China, is generally low, and even part of them are illiterate, so the construction of libraries is of little significance to local farmers.

However, although we can obtain information on the Internet, it does not mean that investing in public libraries is a waste, as public libraries have many other crucial functions. For example, investing in public libraries is the need to preserve human cultural heritage. Because of the library, the experience, culture and knowledge gained from human social practice can be systematically handed down, and become the precious cultural heritage and spiritual wealth of today's mankind. Meanwhile, as a cultural and educational institution, the library today also provides another function for the people-recreational value. The service provided by the library meets the social needs for cultural entertainment, enriches and enlivens the cultural life of the people, and plays an indispensable role in the construction of spiritual civilization. Therefore, whether a city's culture is profound or not can be largely reflected by the construction of the city's library.

In conclusion, it seems to me that investment in public libraries is necessary, even in the era of information explosion. However, the investment should consider the specific situation, but there is no need to invest in all villages and towns.
