3.14雅思写作思路解析

3-14  报告类大作文媒体话题

Newspapers have an enormous influence on people's ideas and views. Why? Positive or negative?

  • people'sideas and views:人们的想法(所影响的内容限定在人们的思想,需要在文章中有呼应)

提纲梳理如下:

MODEL:

Never has any media played such a significant role in affecting people’s thought as the newspaper has done. While various hypotheses have been put forward trying to explain this problem, I would say that the status of the paper can be attributed to 2 aspects and its positive influence upon individuals deserve our attention.

The first reason contributing to the importance of the newspaper is the authoritativeness of its content. Unlike other social media as Facebook or Twitter, where most information is published by anonymous users who are neither responsible nor trustful, the coverages issued in the newspaper are written by professional correspondents, not to mention those profound critics which are sometimes from eminentscholars or researchers in a specific realm, whose opinions are relatively more reliable and have referenced value.

Another factor we should not ignore is the reputation of many newspapers. Compared with other media like TV or the Internet, what makes the paper stand out is its long history. Many famous news agencies can be traced back to several hundred years ago, which is unparalleled by any modern counterparts. Such a feature is particularly influential to senior readers.

When it comes to the effects of the paper, I would say that the guidance from the newspaper is necessary, especially in this age of information explosion. Exposed to numerous information from various sources, people today are more likely to be misled bysensationalized hearsay or gossips from unofficial channels. In this respect, it is the stalwart media like Washington Post and New York Times that help the public distinguish facts from the fanfare. Were it not for their *ysis andinsight, people would be less likely to establish their objective opinions towards many events and therefore make their decisions.

Inconclusion, what contributes to the unique position of the newspaper are it sauthority and historical reputation, which I believe still have a positive roleto play in providing guidance for the majority to form their independent views.
