在雅思写作task 2（大作文）中，字数向来是当其冲的评分标准之一。然而，如何做到“写够”而非“凑够”字数却是困扰众多考生们的一大疑难杂症。稍有不当，往往会出现论点重复、论据无法支撑论点、甚至偏题的可能。因此，明确论点与论据之间的关系，并学会使用不同的方法对书写论据是写好task 2的关键。

?方法1: 解释原因

a)“due to fact that…”引导的原因状语从句

［15.09.03］Many people are afraid to leave their homes because of their fear of crime. Some believe that more action should be taken to prevent crime, but others feel that little can be dome. Discuss both vies and give you own opinion.

考官范文节选：One view purports that it is difficult to prevent crime due to the fact that it is inherent in human nature to violate societal laws.

此句通过“due to the fact that…”引导的原因状语从句对论点“预防犯罪十分困难”作出了简单明了的解释。其实，通过利用表“因为”的连接词对论点进行展开说明的方法在雅思写作，尤其是task 2中，出现的频率较高。类似的引导词还有：because, since, for, as等。

*Notice: 写作时，需要注意 “due to” 与 “due to the fact that…”使用方法的区分。 “due to”后跟名词，或名词短语，例如“it would significantly lighten the load on transportation infrastructure due to a reduced quantity of commuters. 而 “due to the fact that…”后则加从句。

b)非谓语“v-ing”引导的并列句

［15.10.08］Some people think that older school children should learn a wide range of subjects and develop knowledge. But other people think that they should only learn a *all number of subjects in detail. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

考官范文节选：Having access to a large variety of course materials will enable students to become well-rounded, allowing them to understand various aspects of life and society.

此句中，“Having access to…become well-rounded”可视作论点，而“allowing them to understand…” 则为展开论点的论据。此句通过使用非谓语“allowing” 所引导的论据，对分论点“接触广泛的课程使学生全面发展”起到了解释说明的作用。

*Notice: 上述句子中 “enable somebody to do something” 和 “allow somebody to do something” 都解释为“使某人做某事”，可以与“make somebody do something” 交替使用，避免过于重复的表达方式。

c)“which…”引导的定语从句

［15.09.12］Students in school or university learn more from classes of teachers than other resources (e.g. Internet or TV). Do you agree or disagree?

考官范文节选：Moreover, conducting research is an active process, which allows youngsters to focus in greater detail rather than passively listening to a lecture in a large classroom.

此句通过 “which allows…”引导的定语从句对分论点“进行研究调查是一种主动的学习过程”进行展开，详细地说明了 “conducting research” 的一系列优势，从而使分论点变得充分。

a)使用“particularly／especially” 对某类事物进行详细描写

［15.09.26］In many countries, there is not enough recycling of waste materials (e.g. paper, glass, cans). What are the reasons and solutions?

考官范文节选：Moreover, education systems ought to considerably enhance awareness and teach the importance of merely pacing recycled materials in their proper bins, particularly at a young age whereby youth could develop these habits early.

此句中， “particularly at a young age whereby youth …” 是对分论点“有关于垃圾分类的教育”的补充。通过强调“环计划教育需要从儿时开始”, 使分论点内容更加具体丰满。此外，“especially”也可起到相似的作用，例如：在“Foreign media has infiltrated people’s lives, especially youngsters who are surrounded by Western TV shows and movies…” 中，“especially youngsters…” 将原本相对宽泛的“people’s lives” 范围缩小，使表达更为详细。

b)使用“插入语”对某类事物进行补充

［15.09.19］Some people think everyone should be a vegetarian because people don’t need to eat meat to stay healthy. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

考官范文节选：Vegetariani*, as an ideal, not only respects the sanctity of animal life but also leads to having guilt-free and nutritionally-adequate meals.

这句话利用了插入语进行句子内容上的补充。更精确地说，此处插入语“as an ideal” 是对主语 “vegetariani*” 进行了补充描述。虽然插入语在整句话中并不与任何一方产生结构的关联，却不失为一种相对灵活的表达方式。
