In consideration of the fact that the convenience of communicating via mobiles and computers has overshadowed the traditional way of communication, some people argue that people are being deprived of the ability to communicate face to face. Personally, I am not in favor of this view.

First of all, advanced means of communication realized through mobiles and communication have largely facilitated the exchanges of ideas among people. For example, communication tools such as video-chatting enable people to interact with each other anywhere and anytime possible. As a result, people could frequently experience the interchange of information that shows great resemblance to meeting each other, which obviously would contribute to the enhancement of ability to communicate with others face to face.

Another significant reason is that the popularization of the Internet provides people with the access to large amounts of information through cellphones and computers. Consequently, people could obtain various kinds of information which has always been an essential part of daily conversations. Conversely, if people were not exposed to mobiles and computers, they would not gain up-to-date news and thus lose the opportunity to share the latest information with others, which would lead to increased barriers and degraded skills of communication.

However, it has to be admitted that mobiles and computers may also give rise to communicative disorders. In fact, excessive use of them in a long term would indulge people in the virtual world. What’s worse, it is probable that they would be discouraged from meeting people and not be adapted to communicating with others face to face. Only in this case would mobiles and computers weaken the ability of communication among people.

To conclude, despite the negative effects of cellphones and computers, I still hold the opinion that face-to-face communicative ability has been improved rather than impeded because of the effective communication tools and diversified types of information made possible by mobiles and computers.
