There is no doubt that youth is the most valuable period throughout one person’s whole lifetime. However, some teenagers spend this time period in prison and fail to secure a bright future. In this essay, I will examine the reasons for this problem and propose the proper punishment.

个人原因
Firstly, teenagers are psychologically immature. For example, they tend to be tempted to do something wrong, in order to show off their personalities. Being inexperienced and ignorant, these children are likely to go astray under the influence of social ills.
团体原因
Secondly, some of those who commit crimes probably come from single-parent families which might cast a shadow when they were young. These teenagers therefore are likely to take extreme actions with the purpose of self-protection and defense.
社会原因
Last but not least, changeable society makes even the *s confused about what happiness and dreams are and how they can accomplish the target, let alone kids without any social experience and lack of social practice.

教育为主
Admittedly, one person is supposed to shoulder whatever he or she has done. However, the way to punish teenagers who commit crimes requires prudent consideration. This is mainly because imprisonment, the common punishment, will exert negative influences on their whole life. They will have a hard time hunting for a decent job after being discharged from prison. So, education and training, I believe, should be the main focus. For one thing, they are able to acquire some technical knowledge which helps to adapt to this highly competitively society. For another, they can thoroughly understand their wrongdoings and have the sense of social responsibility.

Overall, I conclude that punishing these young criminals is not absolutely a hasty job. We should not only give them inherent punishment, making them aware of their mistakes, but we should also take their bright future into account, preventing them from reverting to crimes.
