雅思写作之语法那些事

在前三篇中，为考生讲解了雅思写作中词汇方面的错误使用现象。本篇中将会拓展到短语和句子。

一、短语的问题——主谓一致

主谓一致指句子中的主语和谓语动词之间的关系，它们通常遵循语法一致、意义一致和临近一致的原则。这个问题根深蒂固，在英语学习者接触英语之初就出现了。想要写出正确的句子，一方面要了解这三种一致的真谛，另一方面要明确知道自己的句子主语的特征：它是可数名词还是不可数名词，是*名词还是专有名词，是非谓语作主语还是句子作主语。

1 、 Information on the website are in a great variety.

改正： are —— is

译文：网站上的信息多种多样。

解析： information 是不可数名词，作主语时，动词只能用作单数。与之类似的词汇还有： work, equipment, news, advice, luggage 等。“许多信息”可以译为“ a great deal/amount of information ”。

2 、 On the other hand, there are much money which should be invested in facilities of universities.

改正： are —— is

译文：另一方面，大学设备方面需要投入大量的钱。

解析： money 是不可数名词，按照 there be 句型中的临近一致的原则，动词应为单数。“许多钱”可以译为“ a great deal/sum/amount of money ”。

3 、 As a result, the rate of getting the Bachelor’s Degree are soaring in recent years.

改正： are —— is

译文：结果，近年来，获得学士学位的比例大幅攀升。

解析： rate 是单数名词，作主语时，动词用作单数。

4 、 The salaries needed for renting in this area is from £ 98,500 per year to £ 194,000 per year

改正： is —— are

译文：在该地区租赁房子所需年薪从 98,500 美元到 194,000 不等。

解析：句子的主语是 salaries ，主语之后的 needed in this area 是一个过去分词短语 The salaries 的后置定语，动词的单复数不受主语修饰语的影响。此类修饰性结构还有： with…; along with…; together with…; including… 等。

5 、 I got to know Rose in 2008, when she and I was working in a company.

改正： was —— were

解析：当主语是由 and 连接的不同人或者不同事物时，谓语用复数形式。

译文：我 2008 年解释了 Rose ，那时我俩在一个公司上班。

二、句式结构的问题

句式结构方面的问题层出不穷的，究其原因，粗略看来有几个方面：一是学员本人语言基础环节薄弱；二是学员不能够清楚地理清自己要表述的语义前后之间的逻辑关系，是并列（列举 and 、转折 but 还是选择 or ）还是从属（是因果关系、让步关系、转折关系、对比关系等等）。

1 、 Children can get work experience, important for learning and take responsibility, even make a lot of money to pay for their tuition.

改正： important for learning and take responsibility, even make a lot of money to pay for their tuition —— , which is important for learning to take responsibility and even make a lot of money to pay for their tuition.

解析：本句含有三个并列的谓语结构，并列成份要求词性相同，结构工整。

译文：孩子们可以获得工作经验、学会承担责任、甚至赚钱交纳学费。

2 、 Higher education is very widespread. Lots of people wish to gain more knowledge in universities.

改正： is very widespread. Lots of people —— is so widespread that lots of people

解析：两个句子之间存在逻辑上的因果关系，前句是主系表结构，可以考虑把后句做成 so … that …的结果状语从句。

译文：高等教育普及，许多人渴望在大学学到更多的知识。

3 、 One cannot achieve their dreams makes a dramatic difference in their life.

改正： One cannot achieve their dreams —— That one cannot achieve their dreams

解析：作主语的部分是个句子，且主谓宾结构完整，做成用 that 引导的主语从句。

译文：人不能实现梦想，会影响一生。

4 、 Recently, with the increasing rate of college enrollment, students receive higher education turn into ubiquitous.

改正： students receive higher education turn into ubiquitous —— it has been ubiquitous for students to receive higher education.

解析：某人做……是……的，这个结构应该表述为： it is +adj. for *. to do sth.

译文：进来随着大学录取率的攀升，学生接受高等教育变得非常普遍。

5 、 In other words, the government pay for the tuition fees is lessened the burden of the poor family.

改正： the government pay for tuition fees is lessened the burden of the poor family —— that the government pays for tuition fees is to lessen the burden of poor families.

解析：句子主语是一个句子，主谓宾结构齐全，用 that 做从属连词，引导主语从句；句子的谓语部分可用不定式做 is 的表语。

译文：换句话说，*承担学费可以减轻贫困庭的负担。

结语

雅思写作中的语法问题有这些，但不仅仅局限于这些；问题的减少和解决，要求教学中，任课老师能够及时发现学员存在的问题，并能通过分析，教会学员减少并终杜这类问题。对于计划 5 分冲 6 分的学员，只要能够在审题正确、思路清晰、写作扣题的前提下，做到语法句子结构在词汇、短语、句型基本正确的前提下，你的梦想必成真。
