雅思写作之名词那些事

在本人上课的过程中，遇到了好多 N 进宫的烤鸭，他们屡战屡败。问及原因时，他们把词汇量不足当作罪魁祸，于是，开始了“举头望明月，低头背单词”的辛苦备考历程。诚然，词汇量不足是诸多烤鸭在屠雅路上拦路虎，但是，当我们谈及雅思写作的提高时，仅仅把词汇量的增加当作敲门砖是不够的。雅思写作重视词、句、段、篇四个方面，那么我们在备考时，就不应该忽视写作中单词、短语、句子结构的正确性。

本文主要针对写作水平在 5 分左右的雅思学员，帮助他们理清写作中常见的错误现象，使众多学员能够有则改之无则加勉，在备考过程中尽量少走弯路。

名词的问题

写作中名词是做主语、宾语、表语等成份，它们一般不孤立存在，其前面通常有 a(an) ， the ， both ， all ， either ， neither ， each ， every ， this ， that ， these ， those ， many ， much ， the number of ， the amount of 等词汇或短语作限定词。这些限定词的使用受到名词的单、复数、可数、不可数等特点的影响和制约。例如：

1 、 This may result in a serious social problems and our education will get worse and worse.

改正： a serious social problems —— serious social problems ；或者改成 a serious social problem

译文：这会导致严重的社会问题，且教育也会每况愈下。

解析： problem 是可数名词，如果有 a 限定，应该用单数；如果没有 a 限定，应该用复数形式。

2 、 For another, an argument is that the inappropriate education can influence the country’s heading for prosperity.

改正： the inappropriate education —— inappropriate education.

译文：另一方面，一个争议就是，不当的教育可能会影响走向繁荣昌盛。

解析：此句中， education 用来指所有“不恰当的教育”，没有特指的意义， the 应该删除。

3 、 In addition, the government can make economic reforms to college, which is that school pay students to do the community services around college.

改正： to college —— to colleges ； school —— schools ； the community services —— community services ； around college —— around colleges

译文：此外，*可以针对大学进行改革，即学校付钱给学生在学校附近进行社区服务。

解析： college 是可数名词，指所有大学，应该用作复数形式； school 用来代指大学，也要用复数形式； the community services 是泛指概念，不需要带 the 。

4 、 By contrast, personally, I hold the perspective that the government should take the responsible of college education fees.

译文：相比之下，个人认为，*应该承担大学教育费用。

改正： the responsible —— responsibility

解析： the responsible 在 take 后面做宾语，应该使用名词 responsibility 。

5 、 To begin with, it is an obvious fact that there is amount of people in our country who cannot pay for their higher education fees.

改正： amount of people —— a (great) number/quantity of people

译文：先，我们许多人没有能力支付高等教育的费用，这个事实是显而易见的。

解析： people 是*名词，表示“大量”时，可以使用 a large/great number/quantity of… ；而在表述不可数名词时，可以使用 a great/large amount of, a great deal of… 。
