The restoration of old buildings in major cities in the world costs enormous government expenditure. This money should be used in new housing and road development. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is true that governments are providing financial support for the continuous maintenance and restoration of historical buildings in famous cities. However, others believe that state budgets should be radically use for building homes and development of highways. In my point of view, governments must focus on both views.

There are major reasons why restoration of old buildings is essential. A first reason is these edifices preserve and represent a country’s history, culture and heritage. In line with this,structures such as these were built by a nation’s ancestors, hence, these are one of the few things that a new generation of a particular race should be proud of.

Another major justification is that historical buildings are one of the key factors to initiate a growth in the touri* industry of a country. Several historical structures usually serve as attractions and landmarks for most tourists. These areas could be regarded as tourists’ spots and visitors’ talking or meeting points. The Eiffel Tower in Paris, for example, is technically one of the 8 Wonders of the World. Most people would take advantage to travel to this well-known place, in order to explore various features and to experience several activities that this tower offers.

On the other hand, state funds should be also utilize in building houses and construction of roads. It is undeniable that a government significant responsibility is its society. Thus, housing support should be provided primarily to those who are in need. Meanwhile, continuous development of roads is also important, obviously, this will immensely boost a country’s civilization and industrialization.

To end, government aid is very necessary for the restoration of old buildings, construction of homes, and development of highways.
