1．Donot hot air．不要吹牛
Hot 就是热,air就是空气。 Hot air 作为俗语就是夸夸其谈,吹牛。例句："Most candidates make promises during a campaign to win voters’ support． But many promises are nothing but hot air． After the candidates get elected, they tend to forget most of the things they promised to achieve．"
这人听起来对政界人士缺乏信任,他说:「大多数候选人在竞选过程中都做出各种保证,以赢得选民的支持。但是,他们说的好多都是夸夸其谈,等到当选后,他们往往把自己的保证忘了。
2．He is very hot”也表示“He has a good-looking”（他长得很好看）“hot”这个字在英语中有很多用法，除了表示热以外．还可以表示非常流行，受欢迎，还用以表示食物很辣，在口语中还可以形容人长得很帅等等。
3．Joe is really in hot water now．
In hot water的意思并不是"在热水中"。它的确切意思是指某人或某些人出境困难,遇到非常麻烦的问题了。
4．blow hot and cold (态度)忽冷忽热,反复无常,摇摆不定
eg：I can’t understand him． He blows hot and cold．
天气忽冷忽热的话,人们容易患感冒。与他人相处时,如果你的态度也是忽冷忽热的话,小心你的人际关系也“感冒”哦——反复无常的人往往很难得到他人的信任。
