　　近日，有关“大连退休警察申请公开女骑警养马成本”的讨论在网上进行得很热烈。对此，辽宁省大连市公安局作出回应，称女子骑警队每匹马的养护成本约为每月2500元。 　　Policewomen on horseback, once regarded as a signature image of Dalian, Liaoning province, recently triggered debate on whether it is worthwhile to spend a lot of money on them. 　　A retired policeman in Dalian has asked the government of the northeastern city to make public the cost of maintaining its mounted policewomen unit, suggesting that authorities di*and the division. 　　大连一位退休警察要求*公开女子骑警队的维护成本，并建议解散骑警队。 　　Mounted police就是“骑警”，大连的“女子骑警队”就是mounted policewomen unit。这位退休警察指出，女骑警虽然在提升城市形象(upgrading the city's image)方面发挥了作用，但作为警察队伍(police force)的一部分，其在维护社会治安(maintaining public order)方面贡献不大，而且耗费人力、物力和财力。大连市公安局回应称，这些女骑警都受过专业训练(professionally trained)，除了骑马巡逻，她们也时常骑摩托车巡逻(patrol on motorcycle)，自成立以来，开展巡逻执勤7000余次，完成礼仪执勤任务(ceremonial engagements)1000余次。 　　我国公安机关的警察按照职责不同分为，治安警察(public security officer)、户籍警察(household registration officer)、交通警察(traffic police)、刑事犯罪侦查警察(criminal police)、网络警察(cyber police)、巡逻警察(patrol police)等。
