part 1

Task:Art classes, like painting and drawing are as important as other subject, should be compulsory subject in high school. To what extant do you agree or disagree?

Sample answer:

Nowadays, many people contemplate whether art classes should be compulsory courses of high school. I believe it is absolutely necessary to make this idea come true as soon as possible.

One of the reasons is that some artworks are rich in knowledge and through appreciating these artworks in class, students can have access to a wide range of knowledge. For example, compared with the limited narration in history book, one of the masterpieces of Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci, The Last Supper, displays a scene of religion in a more vivid and profound way. Art classes offer students another opportunity to think about some knowledge and these classes are significant complement to some core classes like math and science.Without these art classes, students can only acquire knowledge through words, which is not always the most effective and comprehensive approach to learn.

Apart from that, the underlying merits of attending art classes will benefit the students in the long term, which are no less than those of studying some core subjects As we know, academic performance is no longer the only standard to judge a student for many universities and as result, being adept at music or painting do help. After they enter the university, even if they study other majors in college, the skills qualities cultivated through these art classes may assist them to perform better. The abilities to be focused, to be detail-oriented and to be persistent will be conducive to students no matter what their disciplines are.

Considering the advantages of making art classes a complosory part in high school discussed above, I believe it is a wise choice from every aspect.

Cambridge 7 Test 4

Somepeople think that universities should provide graduates with the knowledge andskills needed in the workplace. Others think that the true function of auniversity should to give access to knowledge for its own sake, regardless ofwhether the course is useful to an employer.

What,in your opinion, should be the main function of a university?

Cambridge 12 Test 5

Somepeople believe that it is good to share as much information as possible inscientific research, business and the academic world. Others believe that someinformation is too important or too valuable to be shared freely.

Discus*oth these views and give your own opinion.

CC:行文清晰,并且考生在最后提出了自己的意见,但在衔接方面有一些错误,比如[working there on out ofthis | which scientist]。

Cambridge 11 Test 3

Somepeople say that the only reason for learning a foreign language is in order totravel to or work in a foreign country. Others say that these are not the onlyreasons why someone should learn a foreign language.

Discus*oth these views and give your own opinion.

1. 扣题C 回应题目中所有的关键词 & 论证展开;

2. 逻辑 C 段落分布,连接词,关系词等;

3. 词汇 C 词汇丰富度,词性,单词拼写等;

New technologies have changed the way children spend their free time.Do you think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

The widespread use of new technologies such as the Internet, computers, and *art phones has fundamentally changed the way children spend their free time.In the past, most children wouldengage in outdoor activities such as hiking, playing hide-and-seek,flying kites,to name only a few. Those who enjoyed reading for pleasure would stay indoors and read print books such as classical novels, children’s stories, and comic books. The situation is quite different now.The great majority of children today spend their spare time online, playing video games, listening to music, and browsing around in the social media of all kinds. In my view, this new development has more downside risks.

Worse still, too much time spent facing the computer or *art phone may result in children’s isolation from the actual world. In the traditional games, children could learn the skills to work with others, lead a team, and create new things. All these skills are helpful for children to maintain their interpersonal relations when they grow up.But children can never develop these important skills by hiding behind the virtual Internet world without interactions with real people.

Task:You are renting an apartment (flat). You have a *all accident in the kitchen.

You should write a letter to the landlord.

Describe the damage.

How it happened.

Write what you want the landlord to do.

Sample answer:

Dear Mike,

I am writing to inform you that the microwave oven in your kitchen is broken. I am so sorry and it was all my fault.

This morning, when I was cooking my breakfast, I put the utensil which is made from metal into the machine. Unfortunately, after few seconds, I saw sparks flying off and heard two or three loud bangs. I was too scared to cut off the electricity immediately. While I opened the oven, there were some holes in the internal surface and the bulb was *ashed. Obviously, it can not work any longer.

I was so hurry for work at that time that I forgot the notice of how to use the microwave oven appropriately. I made a sincere apology to you for my mistake and hope you could contact with the workers who can repair the damage. I promise I would pay for the maintenance costs.

Yours sincerely

Lily

3. 最后两行的it of the USA应该用that 替代it

IT technology has had revolutionary influences on any social aspect, and the education is not exempt from it. Some people claim that the thriving long distance education would take the place of teachers in classes. Personally, I believe this assertion is problematic, because it underestimates certain irreplaceable functions of teachers.
Admittedly, benefits brought by online education should never be ignored. Firstly, distance learning programs based on the Internet feature universal accessibility at all times and places. That is to say, this education mode can help any individual student to build up a flexibly self-paced plan of studying, so that it offers a valuable option for people with special needs, such as the disabled, full time workers or those who have families to take care of and are not able to attend class at regular hours. Another advantage is the relatively less expensive tuition fees of distance programs due to the exclusion of financial cost of campus facilities.
In despite of advantages associated with online education mentioned above, physically attending a school has some intrinsic advantages for the students’ overall development. Obviously, teachers can adjust their teaching styles and their instructions to best suit the characteristics of their students. Moreover, experiments like chemistry and physics requiring practical operation are unavailable on the Internet. Therefore, personal by-hand instruction from the teacher is still the only way for students to master the knowledge.
In addition to academic pursuits, students’ emotional and social development, such as interpersonal skills, can be significantly improved in school due to students’ participation in extra-curricular activities and events. psychologically, a real-world teacher can play a role of mental tutor, who can immediately find and correct misconceptions, wrong ideas and values in the mind of students, as well as giving them encouragement and confidence when they are trapped in frustration and depression, by face-to-face communication.
All in all, even in an age driven by the Internet, the position of teachers in education will still remain, for the reason that computers cannot be expected to surpass the overall quality of education available at a college which provides both knowledge and an environment for students’ overall development.
