Nowadays, many people like to study abroad. Studying abroad is often considered as a great opportunity which will lead to bright future in one's ride of passage. Not only can we learn different cultures and knowledge from foreign countries, studying abroad can also enrich our lives.
One coin has two sides. Likewise, different people have different minds. Conservative and negative concerns about studying abroad have been gradually emerging from our society. People start to wonder what goes wrong with studying abroad. There are a couple of issues worth of our discussions.
Disadvantages of studying abroad may affect one's life culturally and economically. We Chinese will experience cultural shocks if we study abroad and live in another country. Some peers may not be able to adapt to a new environment of their studying and living, which may be very different from that of theirs. Life is beautiful, and it is hard. If one does not feel comfortable with the new culture of another country, he will not be happy about studying in that country.
In addition, studying abroad can cost students a great deal of living expenses. Some Chinese students are so academically successful that they receive scholarships in their studies. However, most peers who study abroad do not receive scholarships. Furthermore, they have to deal with many unexpected hardships by living away from their parents and homeland. For example, medical insurance, daily foods, clothes, rents and transportation can generate a large amount of living expenses. Often time, they need to heavily depend on their parents' overseas monthly payments.

Studying overseas is a dream for many students. It is their wish and goal in life to be able to extend their studies overseas where more information is available and better resources are made available to them. However, this dream is not easily achievable due to the sheer costs of overseas studies.

A detailed breakdown of the expenses involved will frighten many aspiring students. Besides from having to fork out a large sum for tuition fees and textbooks, certain courses may require students to pay for experiments and use of special equipment. Certain courses may also ask that students attend seminars and conferences to expose themselves to a variety of research and opinions. However, these extraordinary arrangements are arranged from the students' own pockets since they do not constitute part of the curriculum.

Living expenses is another problematic area for most foreign students. Having a place to stay on campus would be the ideal situation for most. That way, one can cut down on transportation fees. Most schools offer meals at cheaper prices within campus for students who stay on campus. Some halls even include meals in their rental fees. Unfortunately, being able to find accomodation on campus isn't an easy feat. There are so many students fighting for that one vacant lot in some good universities. Those who aren't lucky enough to get a room on campus will have to make do with renting houses outside which are more expensive and involves costs to travel to and fro from campus. Dining is more costly out of the campus too.

Sometimes, students may wish to gather around and have some celebrations for festivals. That would greatly increase the amount of money spent on dining. If this is an occasional event then it won't be a cause for concern.

Other than living expenses, one also has to make considerations for illness, accidents, emergency situations etc. All these mean that the student must have cash on hand to help himself/herself out of these crisis.

Thus, from all the points stated above, it can be seen that studying overseas is indeed an expensive option.

Recent years, more and more Chinese people have chosen to study abroad. To this tendency, some people think it is not good, as most of the overseas learners do not come back, whereas I hold a different opinion.

In my opinion, it is a good thing that more Chinese people go abroad. There are three reasons. First, the overseas learners can improve their ability through the study. They can grasp advanced technologies and their language ability can be improved as well. Second, with the rapid development of China, more and more overseas learners will choose come back, using their abundant knowledge studied abroad to serve for the motherland. The third, the government and most domestic enterprises are willing to provide favorable treatments to attract them to come back.

Although some do not want to come home, we are glad to see that there are more overseas learners chosen to work at home than before. For the above reasons, I think it is not a bad thing for more and more Chinese study abroad.

Third， overseas experience， frustrating and painful as it may be， is helpful. A person going abroad for study of ten experiences much more difficulty——difficulty in adapting to a new culture and in dealing with all problems alone. Yet， the difficulty， coupled with the frustration brought on by culture shock， is a rewarding experience for one’s future life and development of personality. Although going abroad is expensive and perhaps painful， the pay of f is worthwhile. For the benefit is not merely knowledge gained， but the experience desirable in one’s personal life.

If you can do without the few advantages that study in your own country, you will find the college abroad can offer you a better choice. Although the tuition of studying abroad is huge, there are a great number of people who can get the scholarship. And the education system abroad is different from China. It is free which can blaze your creativity. On the other hand, living abroad offers you a chance of broading your horizon. You can be familiar with a different culture. The last but not the least, in the other country, your second language can be practiced as good as your tongue language whch will improve your competitive ability in the future. So if you have a chance to study abroad, take it without hesitated.
