英国新白金汉大学成立于1893年，前身为科学与艺术学校，在2007年正式升级为大学，也是英国白金汉郡唯一的一所公立高等教育学校。目前新白金汉大学在校学生有9000名，其中国际学生有550名，中国学生人数在20名左右。新白金汉大学在校教师职工有1000名。新白金汉大学有两个校区，分别是主校区(High Wycombe校区)和护理学院校区(Uxbridge校区)，距离伦敦市中心非常近。同时，新白金汉大学的交通非常便利，从校园到附近最近的公交车站只要2-5分钟的路程。学生宿舍楼到教学楼虽然只有10分钟的路程，但是两地之间设有公交专线，为学生节约时间。

英国新白金汉大学坐落于伦敦六区的欧克斯桥(Uxbridge)。欧克斯桥是英国伦敦西北部的一个大型的郊区城镇，距离伦敦查林十字街(Charing Cross)只有15英里。新白金汉大学的地理位置非常优越，教学楼距离购物中心只有5分钟，而学生宿舍距离购物中心只要15分钟。新白金汉大学距离伦敦希斯罗机场乘公交仅需30分钟，在当地乘火车到伦敦市中心只要40分钟慎举。

大学奖学金

Bucks New University participates in the Government’s National Scholarship Programme (NSP). Bucks will make available 101 individual scholarships of up to ￡6,000 in 2021. Recipients will be entitled to a financial support package of ￡3,000 in their first year of study and ￡1,500 in each of their subsequent years of study (to a maximum of three years in total). Students firmly accepting an offer of a place for a full-time or part-time undergraduate course at Bucks will be eligible to apply for a scholarship if their household residual income is ￡25,000 or less.

What is the NSP?

The NSP is intended to provide a direct benefit to individual students from low income backgrounds and to support progression of students from groups currently under-represented in higher education. It is part-funded by the Government and part-funded by participating universities.

Who is eligible to apply?

圆孝芹　Students are eligible to apply for a scholarship if their declared household residual income is ￡25,000 or less and if they have firmly accepted an offer of a place at Bucks. Scholarships will be awarded based on the merit of each individual application. Consideration will be given to a range of supporting factors including: declared disability; previously looked after children or those leaving care; and evidence to support suitability for a National Scholarship through extra-curricular activity e.g. clubs and societies, youth club, volunteering etc and/or paid employment.

NSP awards are available only to those students who qualify for student support under the current Education (Student Support) Regulations.

We regret that we are unable to consider applications from the following groups of students:

students ordinarily resident in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland

students paying the international tuition fee

NHS-funded students

students directly continuing from one course to another (eg those progressing to the final year of a degree programme from an foundation degree or an HND)

students transferring in from another institution

students studying for a qualification that is equivalent to or less than the one they have already achieved

students undertaking a post-graduate qualification

students whose fees are paid or part-paid through a sponsorship arrangement.

The NSP is aimed at new entrants to higher education. As such, entrants onto foundation degree or HND courses with course fees of ￡6,000 or more are able to apply for an award. However, this excludes those topping up awards.

Bucks has restricted its scholarships to students who are paying fees of ￡6,000 or more. The national scholarship programme is open to part-time students who are completing at least 25 per cent of the full-time equivalent course and awards will be made on a pro-rata basis.

How does the Bucks’ scholarship programme work?

We are keen to ensure that successful applicants receive the package most appropriate to their circumstances and that financial support is made available at a time which is of greatest benefit during their studies. We are therefore offering a voucher scheme, redeemable against a range of financial supports, which will enable students to choose which elements of the package best meet their individual needs. We will arrange for recipients to speak to or meet with one of our NSP team members to discuss their individual package once confirmation of the award is made.

Elements of the package include:

course fee discount

discounted accommodation in university managed accommodation

discounted public transport

funding towards course costs eg study visits, course materials

cash bursary (maximum ￡1000 payable in February of first year).

Each scholarship will equate to a financial support package of up to ￡6,000 per student which is payable as follows:

￡3,000 in year one

￡1,500 in year two

￡1,500 in year three (for students studying on a 3-year programme).

How do students apply?

Students should complete an application form. As each application will be considered on its individual merit and in accordance with defined supporting criteria, it is important that this form is completed in full and applicants provide comprehensive information to support their application. Guidance notes and Students‘ union   Guidance are available to aid the process and to expand on the university’s eligibility criteria.

How does the application process work?

We will consider each individual application from students who declare a household residual income of ￡25,000 or less (verified by the Student Loan Company) and who are studying on a full-time undergraduate course with fees of ￡6,000 or more. We will apply a rigorous allocation process whereby individual applications are matched against a range of eligibility criteria to include:

students with a declared disability

students who have been in the care system

students from areas that have low participation in higher education

students from our widening participation schools and colleges

students demonstrating suitability for a scholarship through achievements and/ or skills gained through extra-curricular activity.

We will respond to applicants within 6 weeks of our closing date. Where applicants are currently studying for entrance qualifications, offers of scholarships will be provisional based on students achieving their predicted grades and firmly accepting their offer of a place at Bucks. Offers will be subject to verification of household income by the Student Loan Company.

The application process

The application process is as follows:

1. Applicants firmly accept offer of a place at Bucks New University.

2. Applicants download application form (pdf) and guidance notes (pdf) from Bucks’ website.

3. Applicants submit application form and, if applicable, supporting documentation to [email protected] no later than 31 May.

4. Applicants will be notified if their application has been successful before 30 June.

5. Successful applicants contact the NSP team to discuss the financial package appropriate to their needs.

6. Awards will be payable in October of each year of study with the exception of cash awards which will be payable in February of the first year only.

What if a student’s application is unsuccessful?

Please be aware that we have a limited number of scholarships and even if students meet the basic and additional eligibility criteria this does not guarantee their entitlement to an award. In the event that an application is unsuccessful, we will endeavour to offer information and advice on alternative sources of financial support and, where appropriate, to outline opportunities for reapplying in subsequent years of study should additional scholarships become available.
