教他人技能

Describe a skill that you think you can teach other people.

4. And explain how you feel about teaching others

A skill which I think I would be able to teach other people is public speaking and debate. In university I joined a public speaking and debate society organized by one of our teachers. I bought a couple of books about public speaking, which also, at the time, included some CDs of famous speakers and their speeches – Martyn Luther King, John F. Kennedy, and so on. I became really inspired with this, and I also enjoyed the debate club. Both of these skills are quite important if you want to enter into the academic world and succeed. Often you have to construct very logical arguments based on evidence and support your opinions strongly with examples and reasoning. This is not something that comes naturally to everyone, and I think it takes practice and patience and a certain degree of knowledge and learning. I feel very enthusiastic about teaching others and I think it’s really exciting when you have a skill that you are confident about passing on to others. I also believe that in teaching, you also develop yourself too, because you learn a lot from working out the best way to structure classes, workshops and seminars, and through doing so you improve your own skills. I also believe that Chinese students have an aptitude for public speaking because we have a strong culture of performances and performing in front of others – so I think this really means that students here get really engaged when it comes to preparing speeches and trying their best when performing for the interest of an audience. I also believe that in future public speaking will become more and more important - in our global and fast-changing society, the importance of communicating ideas and beliefs across cultures, with logic and clear explanation will become greater and greater. So, I think this is not only a skill that I would be able to teach, and enjoy teaching, but also one which is important and very useful.

我认为我可以教给别人的一项技能是公开演讲和辩论。在大学里，我参加了我们一位老师组织的公开演讲和辩论协会。我*了几本关于公共演讲的书，当时还包括一些著名演讲者的CD和他们的演讲--马丁-路德-金、约翰-肯尼迪等。我由此受到了很大的启发，我也喜欢上了辩论会。如果你想进入学术界并取得成功，这两种技能都相当重要。通常情况下，你必须根据证据构建非常有逻辑性的论点，并用例子和推理有力地支持你的观点。这并不是每个人都能自然而然地做到的，我认为这需要练习和耐心，以及一定程度的知识和学习。我觉得自己非常热衷于教别人，我觉得当你有一技之长，并有信心传授给别人时，真的很令人兴奋。我也相信在教学过程中，你也会发展自己，因为你会从学习到很多东西，包括如何组织课程、工作坊和研讨会，并通过这样做来提高自己的技能。我也相信，中国学生对公众演讲有一种天赋，因为我们有一种强烈的表演和在他人面前表演的文化--所以我认为这真的意味着这里的学生在准备演讲时真的会很投入，在为观众表演时也会尽力而为。我也相信，在未来的公共演讲会变得越来越重要--在我们这个全球化和快速变化的社会中，用逻辑和清晰的解释来传达跨文化的想法和信仰的重要性会越来越大。所以，我觉得这不仅是我能够教的、喜欢教的技能，而且是很重要、很有用的技能。
