Recently, I have had a lot of time off because of the new coronavirus. I read a book, the Hound of Baskervilles, which was written by Sherlock Holmes. In fact, I found it almost impossible to put down! The book tells a story about a famous detective who travels to the moors （荒野）to investigate （调查）a gigantic （巨大的）demon hound （猎犬）.The story is full of mystery and suspense （悬念） which is why I found it so hard to put down. The Sherlock Holmes novels are actually a large collection of stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Holmes and Watson are famous detectives who protect England from evil. Most importantly, they protect people from the super-villain Dr Moriarti. The battles of wit between Sherlock and Moriarti are very interesting, because both of them are geniuses.

I really like mystery novels and detective novels as I like to try and solve the mystery myself before I finish the book. I have bought many different types of detective novels since I was young, among which the best one is the Sherlock Holmes series. Because the criminal is never the person who you think it is going to be. Therefore, the conclusion is always a surprise. So, I think that’s the reason why the Sherlock Holmes series are so popular.
