My hometown is Beijing. I have lived here from a very young age and feel very comfortable in my hometown. However, the environment where I live has changed a lot in recent years. When the winter comes, I can see noticeable air pollution which is some kind of *og that covers the whole sky. It is called haze.

As far as I can remember, when I was a little child, there were not so many cars and factories. People, like me, don’t have an understanding or recognition of air pollution. I do not know exactly when the air pollution began to get worse, but I do know that it is not suitable for people to live in such a bad condition.

It might sound somehow unbelievable, but I can truly witness the heavy haze cover the sky and turn the sky into a grey colour. Also, when the PM 2.5 index becomes high, I can even *ell chemical odor in the air, which I can tell you, is very unpleasant.

It is such a shame that my hometown, and even our country, was highly polluted like this. Human economic activities have an increasing impact on the ecological environment. Many pollutants are discharged into the air without any treatment, and gradually the air becomes worse and worse. The change has made me worry about my health, and sometimes I have been afraid to open the window. I really hope that the government can actively control pollution and arouse people’s environmental awareness, and then bring back the blue sky to us.
