Recently, I have really improved my skills in cooking. It all happened during the last Spring Festival, when my friend Lucy and I decided to take a trip to Sanya and spend some time there. When we arrived, we discovered that the food at our serviced apartment was not very good. Luckily the apartment also happened to (碰巧）have a kitchen so we decided we would cook for ourselves for the duration (期间）of the trip. Lucy and I had never cooked before so this was very exciting and new for us. We went to the market to buy some fresh seafood and vegetables, when we got home we looked up some recipes (食谱）on the internet. After an afternoon of hard work, we had made a very delicious meal of seafood fried rice and we ate it in the evening. Although the meal we cooked ourselves was not as delicious as one we would buy in a restaurant, it tasted absolutely delicious. Every day we were there we would cook for ourselves. We made many lovely meals and learnt a lot together.

I felt so proud, I decided that when I got home I would cook for my mother as I believed she would be very touched by that. It was a lot of fun to be challenged every day and to develop our practical skills in cooking. It is really rewarding to learn new skills and better yourself as a person. After this experience I have decided to try and do more things to develop my practical skills in life.

我感到很自豪，我决定回到家要为我的母亲做顿饭，因为我相信她会很感动。每天接受 挑战并培养自己的烹饪技能是非常有趣的。学习新的技能和改善自己的状况是非常有益 的。这次经历之后，我决定尝试更多的事情来发展我生活中的实用技能。
