Speaking of the topic, I’d like to talk about the car trip I went on with my family last National Day. We planned to spend the holiday in Beijing. The train tickets were hard to buy, so we decided to drive there.

Everything went on *oothly that day until we drove onto the high way. There were millions of cars on the road and as a result, we couldn’t move at all. It wasn’t pleasant, being trapped in such limited space with loud complaints coming from every direction. After an hour, we realized that it was no use being angry or anything, I mean, it was not like that our car could turn into a walking robot and took us through the jam, so we decided to relax and let it be. We started to talk. I shared my college life with my parents and my mom told us the interesting stories in her department. And my dad kept saying how his feelings got hurt every time he lost the card game. It was really funny. We seldom had the chance to talk that much with each other because we were all caught up in our jobs or study, and I forgot how great it felt to share our life with the loved ones.

Time flew by before we knew it. After being stuck on the road for 3 hours, the police came to manage the traffic. It was already 10 PM when we arrived in Beijing. During our stay there, we visited many local marks. However, the time that we spent talking with each other when we were stuck was the most precious experience for me.

1 Why do people like to have private cars?

There are many reasons for that. To begin with, a private car can indeed make our life more convenient. For example, we can go camping whenever and wherever we want. In addition, owning a fancy car can represent one’s social status and make the owner more confident. It’s actually part of the criteria when we make judgements on people’s living conditions.

2 What are the differences between bicycles and private cars?

Generally speaking, bicycles are *aller and cheaper and more suitable when people travel for a short distance. In the country, cars are bigger, more expensive and made for long distances. Another point I’d like to mention here is that bicycles are more environmental-friendly and can help to build up our bodies.

3 What’s the difference between men and women’s preference on cars?

Generally, men's and women’s preferences are firstly reflected in their appearance. Men usually prefer the huge black ones while women like tiny cute cars with delightful colours, like pink or light blue. In addition, men tend to pay more attention to the functions, like how fast the car can run and how much noise it makes; and women usually want the cars to be cost-efficient, like how much fuel it burns per mile.

4 What will cars be like in the future?

Well, I think it's very hard to say because the sky is the limit, and 30 years ago we couldn’t have imagined what the computers, cellphones and TVs would be like today. One thing that I am sure of is that cars are going to be more and more fuel-effective and clean energy will be playing a much more important role in the near future. Personally, I want cars to be *aller so it will take up less space, and it would be great if cars can fly in the future. I would definitely try it.
