1）Expressing a preference

表达一种选择，例如：旅游选择自己还是与朋友一起，

表达思路=选择A OR B+所选项特征描述or 所选项的个人感受

例句: Do you prefer to listen to recordings or live performances?

If I had the chance, I would choose to listen to live performances, because I really enjoy that atmosphere and also I will have the chance to watch my favorite pop star closely.

常用句式：

I prefer/would say...because...

My preference is...because...

I prefer A to B because...

If I had the chance(choice), I would...because...

2）talking about personal habits

表述个人生活，例如：holiday，weekend，spare time

表达思路=经常做的事+偶尔做的事

例句：What do you usually do in your spare time?

(Well)I usually stay at home and watch movie on my computer or surf online. (And)Sometimes I go out (hang out) with my friends.

常用句式:

I usually(often)...and sometimes I...

Normally(as a rule/most of the time/In most cases), I...,and sometimes I...

3) Talking about similarities and differences

表达类同与区别，例如：邮件与信件的区别，中国电影与西方电影的区别

表达思路：抓取两者核心共性（类同点/区别点）+描述各自特点

例句：How do you think the country you live in will be different to China?

The main difference I can think of now is food, in England people eat steak and potato all the time, whereas we eat rice and all kinds of meat most of the time.

常用句式：

DIFFERENCES:

A is totally different from B...

A differs from B in many aspects (ways), but I think the biggest difference is...

The main difference/ most fundamental/significant/obvious difference I can think of now is...

SIMILARITIES:

A is quite similar to B...

A is as...as B

A and B have a lot in common

There’s a lot of similarities/common characters between A and B...the most common similarity is...
