Today, I’d like to describe my first mobile phone, which is called “little *art”or Personal Handy-phone System (PHS). It is pretty similar to a typical cell phone, but you can’t send text messages with it and calls can only be made within the city. I had it when I was 25 years old, and my mom thought it necessary for me to have a mobile device like other peers.

So she bought one for me, which cost her about 200 Yuan. Since I didn’t have short message service, I could only use it for making and receiving phone calls. One thing that bothered me though at that time was the fact that the reception was really bad. I might lose signal when I was in a fast-moving car or a tall building.

Honestly, I didn’t feel much different when I got it. But sometimes it could be embarrassing when friends joked about my lousy phone because they were all using mobile phones that were much more expensive with, of course, much better reception. I’d been using it for 7 years before it was replaced by a “normal” phone, and now my cell phone is a lot *arter than the “little *art”, but I somehow still miss the convenience and trouble it used to offer me.
