雅思口语：关于月亮的习惯用语

下面带来上海口语老师苗静关于月亮的习惯用语。主要有两个表达方式：ask for the moon，Over the moon。

I.to ask for the moon

作为习惯用语，to ask for the moon就是想做做不到的事情或是想要得不到的东西。比如说，我们社区的居民要求市*修建一个新的健身设施。可是*预算中根本就没有这笔开支，很明显这是做不到的。所以这是asking for the moon - 想要得不到的东西。比如说，有个老板要求工人大量提高产量。可是工人是怎么想的呢？

例句：The boss announced that he expects a 40% increase in productivity this year. But without providing updated equipment or adding workers, there's no way we can meet his goal. He might as well ask for the moon.

例句：For their fiftieth wedding anniversary, my grandparents would like a big party with all the members of the family. But they're asking for the moon because many of our relatives either live too far away or can't afford to travel. It's simply not possible for everyone to attend.


II.Over the moon

这个习惯用语来源于一个古老的童谣： Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle/The cow jumped over the moon./The little dog laughed to see such fun/ And the dish ran away with the spoon.

Over是在上面的意思，moon是月亮的意思。over the moon连在一起，不是登月，而是高兴万分的意思。不管遇到什么好事，比如说是涨工资、生宝宝、或是自己支持的球队赢了比赛的，都可以说over the moon, 来表达兴奋的心情。

例句：You can imagine how nervous I was when I finally told her how I felt. I didn't know what to expect. She could have gotten angry or acted like I was joking or even felt sorry for me. But, when she said she felt the same way, I was just over the moon.

他说：你可以想象，我向她表白的时候心里有多紧张。我不知道她会有什么样的反应。她可能会生气、也可能会觉得我是在开玩笑，甚至可能会同情我。可是她竟然说，她也喜欢我，这简直让我喜出望外。
