雅思阅读定位词的多种“演变”（part1）

在备考阅读中, 很多同学认为大的问题是考场上时间不够用. 如果不经过长时间的练习, 很难准确快速地找到答案. 实际上, 这是一种快速阅读能力, 根据文中的信息快速定位的能力. 在近几年的雅思阅读题型的趋势, 更多题型考查的是考生的定位信息的能力. 如果能较好地掌握阅读题当中的定位词在文章中的变体形式, 那么将在解题时会达到事半功倍的效果. 本文将结合雅思复习资料介绍一下雅思阅读中定位词的常见多种演变形式.

一. 同义替换

雅思定位词在文章中出现的种也是常见的一种变体是同义替换, 即同义词或同义词组.
如Cambridge 6 Test1 Passage1 Doctoring sales中
Q9: Kim Schaefer’s marketing technique may be open to critici* on moral grounds. 题目中定位词为Kim Schaefer, on moral grounds. 在文章中定位, 我们会在文章三段中找到”Selling pharmaceuticals is a daily exercise in ethical judgment”, 其中ethical 即为moral 的同义词.

再如Cambridge 4 Test3 Passage3 Obtaining linguistic data中
Q37: A linguist can use a corpus to comment objectively on……….
题中定位词为corpus, comment objectively on, 在文中定位到后一段的二句A corpus enables the linguist to make unbiased statements about frequency of usage. 这里comment on, objectively分别与make statements about, unbiased对应, 所以所填答案是frequency of usage.

其他的同义词或词组变体如:
perceive----sense, mortal---people, resemble---look like,
operate---work, sufficient----enough/adequate, developed----sophisticated/advanced
limited----restricted/finite/minimal
另外, 还会出现一些特殊的转化, 如
how----the way/by, why----reason/factor

二. 派生词

雅思定位词在文章中出现的二种变体是派生词, 也就是题目中的定位词和文中的词为同一族词, 只是词性的变化.
如Cambridge 4 Test4 The nature and aim of archaeology:
Q14: archaeology involves creativity as well as careful investigative work.
该题是判断题, 定位词为creativity, investigative work, 在文章中我们能定位到” Archaeology is partly the discover of the treasures of the past, partly the careful work of the scientific *yst, parlty the exercise of the creative imagination. It is toiling in the sun on the excavation in the Middle East,…., and it is investigating the sewers of Roman Britain. 题目中定位词creativity为名词, 在文中找到相对应的形式creative, 该词是creativity 的派生词; 定位词investigative为形容词, 文中找到对应形式investigate(动词)为它的派生词.
其他的派生词变体如:
secret---secretion, recover---recovery, evolutionary---evolve, erode---erosion
