Some people think that the age limit for driving should be increased in order to make driving safer. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

这篇写作考题要求考生们讨论提高驾驶的年龄是否可以使得驾驶更安全。拿到题目，很多考生缓了一口气，题目不难，有话说。但是说些什么，怎么说可以获得，却不容易。先，这个题目问的是多大程度上同意或不同意，所以单纯的一边倒并不能打动考官的心。好是选择5段式的写法，既指出这么做的好处，同时又分析它的负面作用，然后再提出其他可行的方案，这样写容易让自己的观点站得住脚，也符合题目的要求。下面来看开篇：

Unsafe driving is generally blamed to be responsible for the majority of road accidents and there has been the appeal, in recent years, that for the sake of traffic safety, the age limit for drivers are to be increased. From my own perspective, this proposal is feasible, but its negative effects may not be overlooked and other solutions have to be *yzed and investigated to achieve the optimal fruit.

Lifting the minimum driving age may bring may, definitely, be directly associated with the reduction of traffic violations. For one thing, compared with the younger drivers, their older counterparts tend to cultivate a stronger sense of responsibility for themselves and their families, which will always reminds them not to be motoring offenders. For another, it is more likely for the younger rather than the elder to be addicted to some unhealthy living habbits, such as drinking and taking drugs. The above behaviours are viewed to be the culprits of road accidents. In addition, to mimic the dangerous shots is another reason why teenagers offend the traffic rules.

To look at the issue from the opposite aspect, controlling the driving age more strictly may play an adverse role in the education and employment of the adolescents. Fortunately, the change on age restriction is not the only way to create a safer driving environment. Promoting the testing standard is a practical measure for the government to consider. Another effective way is that the penalties on illegal riding behaviours are intensified to lower or even avoid the dangerous acts as eating, drinking and talking on the phone. The authorities may also consider to relate the bad record with people’s education, employment and financial activities.

To sum up, although enhancing the minimum driving age may leave some irresponsible riders out of the team, more interventions have to be applied to achieve road traffic safety, no matter how long the way is.
