What kinds of jobs would be chosen by children?

When we ask children: “What do you want to be when you grow up?”，we often hear so many different answers and perhaps jobs that don’t actually exist. Some of the common answers that we might hear from children are a scientist, a superhero, an actor/actress, a firefighter, etc. It is also common for children to respond to this question by imagining themselves becoming people like their parents. Indeed, parents have a lot of influence over their children and their choices of career.

Will you be regretful of your choice when you get old?

I think regret seems to be a fact of life and people always look back and think about the one who got away, the job they didnl take, the choice they should have made. The list goes on.

There will definitely be something along the way that I will wish I’d done differently, but I don’t think dwelling on the past is a good idea and it is not productive to discourage myself by imagining a more ideal situation. When I get old, there is no point for me to regret the choices I have made because we only live once.

Do all children choose the same job as their parents?

Parents serve as a major influence on their children’s career development and career decision-making. Parents want their children to find happiness and success in life and one factor which influences happiness and success is career choice. I think that not all children choose the same job as their parents, but parents who work as nurses, scientists, or lawyers may have a higher chance of their children following in their footsteps. It is also natural for children to find their own passion as they grow up and pursue a completely different career path than that of their parents.

Apart from money, what factors should be considered when we find a job?

Although money can be an incredibly important factor when people apply for jobs, paychecks shouldn ⁵ t be the only factor that people consider. A huge salary doesn’t always guarantee job satisfaction, and there are more important factors that should be taken into account. People should consider factors such as working hours, benefits, company culture, growth, and educational opportunities, and colleagues when finding jobs and making plans for their career.
