What are the types of books that young people like to read?

I think young people, also just like many others, would prefer reading stories of their peers. They would like things written about their own contemporary life. Those stories are more relevant to them so they would be more likely to like them. Some of the young people also like fantasies. I think the amazing part about fantasies is that nothing has to be true. You can set your imagination free with the author. The dragons and the magicians you dream of, will have their stories told in those fantasy books. That can also attract many people.

What’s the difference between the reading habits of old people and young people?

As for young people, they usually read books fast. They may care more about the general story line, what this character does and says. They don’t really have much leisure time for reading so they would make the best use of their time. I think old people prefer reading slowly on paper books. They would think between every page. And they also want to feel the style of the book. They care about how the stories shape the characters. How one thing led to another, what’s the inner logic. In short, I think older people read deeper.

What’s the difference between paper books and e-books?

I think paper books contains a bit of sense of history and literature. Ifs more about the feeling of reading. E-books on the other hand, although sometimes I would think they are in lack of a touch of seriousness, but they are really convenient when you want to read books when traveling around. You can easily bring three books on a long flight in an e-book reader, but it would be rather inconvenient if you want to do that with paper books.

Some people say that it is easier for children who start reading from a young age to succeed, do you agree?

I kind of agree. I think if children can start like reading from a young age, they would be more likely to form a good reading habit and fell in love with reading. And I think a good reading habit would make you more likely to succeed in the future. Also, you think when you are reading. Your mind is working fast. Your brain need to convert the text that you read into images and sounds and feelings. All of that, are good practices of your brain. And I think children can really benefit from it.
