1. Do you think it is strange to make friends online?

I do not think it is strange to make friends online. This may have been strange 10 or 20 years ago when the internet was still new and people did not trust it very much. However, nowadays, there are many social network sites on the internet which are designed to help people make new friend online. Furthermore, there are many people who live in remote locations and may struggle to find friends where they live. Therefore, it seems like a very normal thing to me.

2. Why do some people have few friends?

Some people are happy to only have a few friends. I do not think this is strange, as a few meaningfiil friends can be better than lots of friends that you are not very close to. I imagine some people prefer to have few friends because it is less stressful than maintaining loads of friendships. Furthermore, it means you are able to become very close and intimate with these few friends instead of only slightly knowing a large group of friends.

3. Which is more important, new friendships or old ones?

I think old friendships are more important than new friendships. This is because new friendships are uncertain and possibly fickle, therefore it is a possibility that a new friend will not still be your friend in a few months? time. In contrast to this, old friends are people you have been friends with for a long time, so you can be certain that you will be friends with them for years to come Therefore, old friendships are definitely the most important ones.

4. How do companies welcome their new employees?

Companies normally like to do something special to welcome their new employees. Often companies will do a social event so that the new employeeg meet and get to know the old employees. This stops there being any nervousness or estrangement between new and old employees. Therefore, companies will often go out to dinner together or do a social outing to some silly activity like mini-golf, and this way people get to know each other.
