Topic 24 教年轻人的经历

1. Is motivation important for learning new things?
Yeah, I believe motivation is key when it comes to learning new things. When you want to learn something new, you have to depend on your own will216. You need to be determined217 and motivated to learn on your own. Sometimes nobody else will help you. I think people can stay driven by focusing on the benefits that knowledge can bring them.

2. What do people learn from parents and teachers respectively? （也可能问谁的影响更大）
Well, your parents are with you since the day you’re born, so they have a big influence on you. Parents teach you how to treat others, including friends and family members. They help you see the world in a certain way. But teachers mainly teach academic knowledge. You know, they teach subjects like language and science.

3. What skills should be taught to kids before they go to school?
I suppose that kids should be taught how to behave with others. They need to know how to get along with other kids, even if they don’t like them at first. They can make school more welcoming for all the students. They can also get the most out of218 their education if they make friends as well as learn new things. So I believe their parents should teach them how to treat others well.

4. In general, what skills do *s need to have?
Well, from my perspective219, *s should have good communication and interpersonal skills220. They should know how to express themselves and say what they want and expect from others221. If they can’t communicate properly, they could cause arguments222 or even confusion. They should also know how to get along with other colleagues and coworkers. It’s an important skill to have for life.

5. What are the skills that you want to learn?
I’d love to learn some sports skills. I’ve never been that good at sports, but lately I’ve been looking for a way to keep fit and my friend suggested that I try swimming. So I hope I can learn some swimming skills like the butterfly stroke223. It’s more like an advanced swimming skill and not many * swimmers can do it. So it would be more fulfilling if I learned it.
