She was a student in my training school and very friendly. But her taste in fashion I suppose is completely different from mine. I think the reason she gave me this tie is because I usually wear many different ties with different colors patterns and fabrics. So she thought it would be a good birthday gift, which I really appreciate. So, when she gave me the tie, I was really happy but I didn’t really open it right in front of her because I was told it is rude in China to open the gift in front of the giver. Maybe I was mistaken. But anyway, I opened it at home and found out it was a green tie, and the green looks atrocious. The brand is Perry Ellis, I still remember, which is a good American clothing brand, but I wouldn’t say it is a designer brand. I mean, I am not picky about brands, but the tie just looks ugly. Number one it is too wide, and looks like something my grandpa used to wear in the 1970s. Number two, it is a light and bright green which is extremely difficult to match with shirts and suits. Therefore, I have never worn the tie, not even once and she constantly asked me why I had never worn the tie. So to be polite, I told her a white lie that I will only wear it on special occasions.
