As an extroverted person, I enjoy making friends and getting to know new people. Just recently, I’ve made a new friend who is a very interesting guy.

The person is Richard, an exchange student from the US. We are at the same age, and both crazy about doing sports. He has a very foreign face to me, with a tall noise and a pair of deep blue eyes. What’s interesting is that he likes to change his hairstyle frequently. He even had a Mohawk haircut, which was so cool.

I met him on the first day when he came to the class. I heard that there was an exchange student coming to the class, and I was sitting right behind him in that class. His Chinese was pretty poor at that time, so I communicated with him in English. Of course, my English wasn’t fluent at all, but he was very patient and polite, and could understand what I meant.

Since then, we’ve spent some together. I would say Richard is a guy of nice personality. He’s very positive. I don’t know how he is able to do that, but whenever I feel low, he can encourage me to look on the bright side. He can always see some positive perspective in everything. Also he is very curious. He keeps asking me what this is and what that is. He never feels tired.

I think he is a very good friend because first of all, we share some common hobbies, like sports. We play football together, and our friendship becomes better in the game. Also, he’s helped me a lot with my English. I’m very grateful to his help.

　　作为Non-native speaker，备考口语完全没有捷径。提高成绩的方式只有通过多练多揣摩。

　　我虽然有一些外国朋友，练习口语的机会也非常多。但口语考试和平时与朋友闲聊还是有区别的。

　　和外国同学聊天时往往只谈相互感兴趣的话题，而且也不用深入展开，在一时难以表达时他们也会给与理解的表情，然后你再通过反复的解释来补救性表达。

　　但考试只有大约15分钟，你抽到的话题你不一定感兴趣(有各种ideas)，而且你还需要尽量用连贯性的准确表达去描述你的想法。所以这需要一些提前准备，尽可能地多cover一些可能出现的话题。

　　我在考前上了10节外教*口语培训，老师来自菲律宾，口语并不是非常出色而且有一些口音。

　　但这个培训的作用并不是去听一个操着标准伦敦腔的大学教授侃侃而谈的，而是找一个人来监督你练习口语，陪你一起把那些常规题目都练习一遍让你心中有个底。所以这10节课还是挺有帮助的，我最后在考试时也碰到了一两道曾经练习的话题，结果就是说起来格外地溜。

　　当然找外教*练习也不是特别有必要，找个小伙伴根据口语机经互相提问回答然后分析也一样有效果。如果有毅力的话，自己一个人对着问题自言自语也行，而且更能彰显在考雅思的道路上，孤独与寂寞根本无法阻挡你前进的步伐。

　　听说在自己学校考雅思，口语会有一定程度的压分。事实上最后6.5的成绩也确实不太满意。在口语考试当天，我自认为说得很溜，中间没有任何语塞性的停顿，eye contact和body language也做得很自然到位，所用句子也尽量做到多样化而且有思想性。但是，从长相上看像是来自东欧的大叔冷冰冰地终结掉了我单项上7的梦想…
