Something I saw in the social media which I thought was interesting recently was a blog about animals that some guy posted. He was a student from Chengdu, I believe, and he had a real passion for wild animals, and knew all about them. He was a member of a society that goes bird watching on the weekends, and he posted a lot of pictures of birds and animals that he had seen in national parks all over China. It was a real hobby of his, and he also wrote about the animals and their habitats, their breeding habits, eating habits, all sorts. I was really drawn to his level of professionali*, how he presented the information he found, and how he recommended documentaries and other websites where people could learn more about animals. With the rise of social media these days people are able to really indulge and share their passions and interests like never before, and I think this animal-lover’s blog is a really good example how one person’s passion and interest can be shared online with millions of other interested parties. I first came across him on one of those online blog sites that I subscribe to. I believe he has also just started to do a podcast, too. I am keen on podcasts and I think they’re another good way for individuals to have a voice in society and share their thoughts and views on things. It also helps to raise other people’s awareness about important issues in the world too. This guy doesn’t just teach people about wildlife but also tries to promote environmental initiatives as well. I think the online medium is ideal for promoting these kinds of good causes.
