　　The reduction in family time is evident in today's world, which is not restricted to the working population. This change can be attributed to the increasing demand from work, as well as the shift in people's lifestyles. Although it is sometimes believed to be a necessary sacrifice for economic development, the negative repercussions have raised an alarm.

　　The main reason why this is happening is that the rising standard of living requires breadwinners to seek jobs far from home. These days, most families need two incomes to get by, providing for household expenditures or raising children. Because of this, people are constantly looking out for better career opportunities, regardless of the location. Another contributing factor is the change in lifestyle. These days, people are exposed to numerous forms of entertainment, driving them away from family life.

　　This trend is taking its toll on individuals' well-being. For the young and middle-aged, the inadequate family support usually makes them vulnerable to life's challenges. Meanwhile, the elders are left behind to deal with their solitary old age after retirement. Unfortunately, this is likely to be the norm in the coming future. In turn, insufficient communication leads to a lack of mutual understanding and trust between home members, meaning that the sentimental value of a family is easily reduced. This can give rise to various issues concerning different family members, such as poor youth development and marital crisis. The evidence is that the rate of divorce and youth crime is growing at an alarming speed.

　　To conclude, due to the increasing financial demand and the shift in public lifestyle, families having insufficient quality time has become a universal trend, and it has caused irreversible damages to individuals and their family structure. If modern families yearn for closer family bond, they will have to consider ways to maintain meaningful communication.
