Describe a volunteering experience you have had

Speaking of a volunteering experience, the first one I can think of is the time I joined a volunteer club on campus. When I had just entered into university, I joined a volunteer club. The reason why I joined in that club was that I wanted to gain some social experience and do something meaningful at the same time.

Then one weekend, our group went to a nursing home for a caring activity. After we arrived at the nursing home, my team leader assigned me the task to chat with the elderly and ask what they needed. I noticed that there was a silent woman sitting in the comer so I walked straight to her.

At first I thought it would be a simple and awkward conversation since she seemed to be sort of short-spoken. But to my surprise, she kept talking and asking me question as if we were old friends. Her eager eyes really left a mark on me. She told me they are lonely, and feel a lack of concern and love. But that even a few words or a short conversation can bring some comfort to them

From then on, I became interested in volunteering. Not for the original purpose, I just want to be able to see them *ile and be happy. Of course, I also make time to visit my grandparents, to talk to them, and share all my success or improvements with them.

大学刚入学的时候，因为兴趣，我参加了校内的一个志愿社团。想要尝试做志愿者，增加一些社会经 验和做一些有意义的事。

然后在之后的一个周末，我们小组去了养老院参加一个关爱活动。到达养老院后，我的组长给了我一 个任务，就是和老人聊天，问他们需要什么。我注意到一个沉默的女人坐在角落，所以我径直走向她。

起初，我以为这是一次简单而尴尬的谈话，因为她看起来孤僻、不善言辞。但令我吃惊的是，她一直 和我说话，问我问题，好像我们是老朋友。她急切的眼神确实给我留下了深刻的印象。他们很孤独， 缺乏关心和爱。即使是几句话或一次简短的交谈也能给他们带来一些安慰。

从那时起，我开始对志愿活动感兴趣。不是为了原来的目的，我只是想能够看到他们的微笑和快乐。 当然，我也会抽出时间去看望我的祖父母。和他们交谈，分享我的每一次成功和进步。
