The building I’m gonna describe is Saint Sofia Cathedral, which is an orthodox church with a history of over one hundred years.

This Russian-style cathedral is located in Harbin, a northeastern city in China. It was built in 1907. As a landmark architecture and a well-renowned tourist attraction of the city, every year hundreds of thousands of tourists come to visit it. To be exact, it is more of a museum than a church now, because people who go to churches don’t frequent it. Instead, they go to other churches regularly. The building is made of red bricks with a dark green dome on top of it. It looks amazing and exotic under the sunlight. In winter when there is snow, you can feel as if you’ve come to a fabulous castle.

I have much affection towards this building because first of all, I’m a local and I’ve been visiting it since early childhood. Secondly, I’m fond of architecture design and this building is absolutely a masterpiece. Now that I’ve moved to another city, I really miss it and those years I went there and spent time with family and friends.
